    This is a really cool idea – question – is the country the place where the story takes place or the birthplace of the author?

      Hi Katherine! I suppose you could do it either way, but I am doing mine by authors born in the country, rather than books that take place in the country. I have to admit, I have been very slack with this challenge this year…..it has been a very bad reading year for me this year. Need to find a way to turn this around!

    Keep at it!

    I’ve got 2 recommendations for Iraq (both are authors from as well as the stories taking place in… or at least partly in Iraq)
    1) Between Two Worlds: Escape From Tyranny ~ by Zainab Salbi (biography)
    and
    2) Talking About Jane Austin in Baghdad: The True Story of an Unlikely Friendship ~ May Witwit and Bee Rowlatt (e-mailed correspondence between an English professor and a U.K based Journalist during the recent invasion)
    I found both to be good reads and quite informative.

    Zee Edgell is an author from Belize who writes about Belize. She has penned 4 novels – Time and the River, The Festival of San Joaquin, Beka Lamb and In Times Like These. I haven’t read any of them.

      I agree, it is a challenge, but one I am enjoying! My biggest challenge is to fit it in with my review books, and my reading for pleasure, because I don’t get a lot of time to read each week.

      Like I said on my first ever post, this is a long (very long!) term project! 🙂
