Dearly Devoted Dexter ~ by Jeff Lindsay

dearly-devoted-dexterI started reading Dearly Devoted Dexter last night & was up until 1am reading, then back up around 7 O’clock this morning to pick up where I had left off. I found myself giggling or out-right laughing out loud so much with this book ~ is this wrong? Should one find a book about a serial killer funny? I definitely think so, at least in the case of this particular series of books!

Dearly Devoted Dexter is the follow-up to Darkly Dreaming Dexter & I think that was even better than the last offering! This one picks up where Darkly Dreaming Dexter left off & talks about what happened at the end of the previous book, so you really should make sure if you decide to read these books, that you read them in the order they were written. In this book Dexter is being harassed by Sargent Doakes, the man who seems to see that there is more to Dexter than meets the eye. Doakes is determined to catch Dexter up to no good & comes fairly close. As a result of his believing that Dexter is up to no good, Doakes starts staking out Dexter’s house, forcing Dexter to take drastic action, with hilarious results. Eventually Dexter & Doakes are forced to work together & one of them has to act as the bait in order to catch a serial killer who is on the loose – one of them will come out unscathed, but which one?

As I mentioned at the begining, I found myself laughing out load a lot with this book. Lindsay has given Dexter a very funny, very dry sense of humor & it’s great! Dexter really is a serial killer you could grow to love – I know I have! Will you?
